Funding opportunities for PhD students and Early Carrer Investigators

1. Scholarships for members of European Phycological societies, members of the Federation of European Phycological Societies

What do we offer?
4 student scholarships for participation in the 8th European Phycological Congress. The amount of a scholarship is a student’s registration fee.

Who can apply?
All PhD students that are regular members of societies who has regulated their FEPS membership status. The call is open until 15th March 2023. Please send your application to the e-mail: epc8@sciencesconf.org – with a note – FEPS scholarships for EPC8.

The application must include: Curriculum vitae, publication list (if any), Letter of intent, abstract, confirmation that you are member of respective society and paid the fee for 2023. Incomplete and out of deadline applications will not be considered. All complete submissions will be forwarded to the EPC8 Committee which will make the selection of candidates.

 

2. Student bursaries from The British Phycological Society

The BPS has set aside funds to support student projects, students attending Workshop and Conferences specifically concerned with algal biology. You will find more information regarding these bursaries on the BPS website.

 

3. Bursaries for students from developing Countries, from the IRD (French National Institute for Sustainable Development).

The IRD is offering bursaries of 1 000 € for 3 students from developing countries to help them to participate to the EPC8 in Brest. The call is open until 15th March 2023. Please send your application to the e-mail: epc8@sciencesconf.org – with a note – IRD bursaries for EPC8.

Eligible countries: You will find here a list of the developing countries.

The application must include: Curriculum vitae, publication list (if any), Letter of intent, abstract, Incomplete and out of deadline applications will not be considered. All complete submissions will be forwarded to the EPC8 Committee which will make the selection of candidates.

 

4. JMSE 2023 Travel Award

The applications will be assessed by an Evaluation Committee consisting of senior scholars from the _JMSE_Editorial Board. This prize provides financial support for the winners to attend an international conference in the field of marine science and engineering to be held in 2023, in order to hold a presentation, present a poster, or both.

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS:
       * Postdoctoral fellows or PhD students.
       * Plans to attend an international conference in 2023 (oral presentation and/or poster).

REQUIRED APPLICATION DOCUMENTS:
       * Information of the conference the applicant is planning to attend and the abstract that will be submitted.
        * Curriculum vitae and list of publications.
        * Justification letter describing the focus of the research (max. 800 words).
        * Letter of recommendation from the supervisor, research director, or department head, which also confirms the applicant’s status as a postdoctoral fellow/PhD student.

The winners (two awardees) will each be awarded CHF 800 and a certificate.
